Water Resistance

Do you plan to take your speaker outside? To the beach? To the pool? In the shower? Then you definitely need to verify the level of water resistance before purchasing. Speakers range from not being able to handle even a drop of water to being able to be fully submerged in water for several minutes. You can tell the water resistance by the IP rating—the higher the rating, the more resistant the speaker is to the elements. For reference, the first digit refers to dust protection and the second digit refers to water protection. It reads as: IP68. Anything higher than IP66 will be dust- and splash-proof, meaning it can handle some contact with water, but cannot be fully submerged or soaked.

Battery

Battery life for Bluetooth speakers is measured in milliampere hours (mAh). Manufacturers will report the battery life of a speaker in the average number of hours it takes to empty from a full charge. Keep in mind this number is based on medium levels of usage. If you play the speaker on full volume, it will drain the battery faster. Some specialty features like using the speaker to charge your phone or casting an LED light show will also drain the battery faster. The manufacturer reported number is just an estimate, and may be slightly different based on your usage.

It’s also important to consider is the type of battery. Rechargeable lithium-ion (LI-ion) batters are ideal, but some speakers only take standard or rechargeable AA/AAA/C/D batteries. You may even find Bluetooth speakers that recharge via solar power—great for outdoor use!

Which is the best Bluetooth speaker in the market?
Related: JBL Flip 3, Anker SoundCore, Portable Bluetooth Speakers | Submitted by Nirmalya 78 days ago
A:

It really depends on what sort of specs you like. The most popular curerntly is the JBL Pulse 3, and with good reason. It has three 40mm transducers, and a fantastic 20W output. I personally have one, and am extremely pleased with its performance.

Between the two you want to compare, the JBL Flip 3, and Anker SoundCore, it also depends. The JBL Flip 3 has a much larger power output, with dual 1.57in transducers, along with being water resistant. The Anker SoundCore on the other hand has a great bass quality. It has a 6 watt output, and includes a subwoofer. If you’re looking for something with raw power, I would say the JBL Pulse 3, or JBL Flip 3. For something a little simpler, less weight, and a long battery life (24 hours, twice that of the others mentioned), then the Anker SoundCore would be the ideal purchase.

A:

It of course depends on your price range, and technical preference. Between the two you have chosen to compare, one is significantly cheaper than the other. The Cambridge Oontz Angle 3 has a great sound quality, yet keeping a realistic, and economic approach to their pricing. It has a 10W output with two neodymium driver, and a bass radiator. The JBL Flip 3 is a bit more expensive, but also has more power than the Cambridge Oontz Angle 3. It has a 16W output with dual 1.57in transducers, giving it a bit more edge over than cambridge, while only having about 2 hours less of battery life to the cambridge. If I am to personally recommend a portable speaker for the ipod I would go with the UE Boom 2. I personally use it. It has a powerful battery life that will give you continuous music for 15 hours, is water resistant, and delivers quality sound for a small speaker (maximum sound level of 90 dBA).

A:

It depends on what sort of stuff you plan to get from it. If you want something that can get really loud then the Bose SoundLink Mini II would indeed be a great choice. It has an impressive 50 watt output, so you can bet that it will rock the house. On the other hand, the JBL Flip 3, and Anker SoundCore are great choices if you plan to have a more personal use out of it, and not try to have huge parties with it. The JBL Flip 3 only has an output power of 16 watts, and Anker SoundCore has about 6 watts. They all have their good points, so the best thing to do is just think about what you imagine to get out of the device, then base your decision accordingly to your needs. The JBL Flip 3, and Anker SoundCore are much cheaper than the Bose SoundLink Mini II, but won’t deliver the same sound quality when you go to high decibel levels.

cant decide jbl flip 4 or vava voom 21
Related: JBL Flip 3, VAVA Voom 21, JBL Flip 4, Portable Bluetooth Speakers | Submitted by anonymous 119 days ago
A:

They are both great devices. The JBL Flip 4 is IPX7 water resistant (up to 1m of immersion), has a durable build, holds a charge for 12 hours, has two 40mm transducers, and a 16W power output. The VAVA Voom 21 has two 5W drivers, two passive radiators, a 10W subwoofer, holds a charge for 10 hours, also has a durable build, and a 20W power output. The VAVA Voom is not water resistant and cannot really be used outdoors.

The JBL Flip 3 is also a good device to consider. It is IPx4 water resistant (splash proof, but can't be submerged like the Flip 4), has 10 hours of battery life, contains dual 1.57in transducers, and has a power output of 16W, along with weighing only 12 ounces (nearly half of what the JBL Flip 4 weighs). So, if you want something purely for volume and strong bass, then the VAVA Voom 21 would be a good choice. If you want something that’s close in sound quality, but can be taken outside or in the water, then the JBL Flip 4 would be a wonderful choice. If your looking for something durable, light-weight, at the cost of a little water resistance (IPX4, as opposed to the JBL Flip 4’s IPX7), and yet still producing decent sound quality, then the JBL Flip 3 would be a great choice. Ultimately the decision will boil down to your exact needs.

JBL Flip 3 vs Anker Stereo Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 Speaker
Related: JBL Flip 3, Anker SoundCore, Portable Bluetooth Speakers | Submitted by anonymous 185 days ago
A:

The JBL Flip 3 is IPX4 water resistant (splash proof), has a battery life of 10 hours, has dual 1.57in transducers, and a 16W power output. It's also incredibly durable and can be dropped or shoved into a bag for easy transportation without fear of breaking it. . A couple negative points about the JBL Flip 3 is that it sounds a little flat, does not have very crisp highs, and distorts a bit at high volume

The Anker SoundCore has a subwoofer, dual high performance 3-watt drivers, a battery life of 24 hours, and a 6W output. The Anker SoundCore’s negative points are that it also tends to distort sound at high volume, and has absolutely no water resistance, so it can't really be used outdoors safely.

So, If you are looking for something with overall power, loudness, and water resistance, then the JBL Flip 3 would be a wise choice. If you want something with a nice sounding bass, an exceptional battery life of 24 hours, at the cost of a lower power output (6W, as opposed to the JBL Flip 3's 16W), then the Anker SoundCore would be a fine choice.

How does the Cambridge Oontz Angle 3 compare to JBL Flip 3?
Related: JBL Flip 3, Cambridge Oontz Angle 3, Portable Bluetooth Speakers | Submitted by anonymous 342 days ago
A:

Oontz angle 3 is okay...not that impressive for me but it is loud and powerful...then i bought the flip 3 and all i can say is wow! The sound is way way better than oontz angle 3.. go for JBL Flip 3!

A:

The Cambridge Oontz Angle 3 has two precision neodymium drivers, a bass radiator, has 12 hours of battery life, and a power output of 10 watts, all at a very affordable price. The JBL Flip 3 has IPX4 water resistance, 10-hours of battery life, dual 1.57in transducers, and a power output of 16 watts. It also contains many features that the Oontz Angle 3 does not support, such as airplay, fm radio, and connecting to multiple devices at the same time. But, the Oontz Angle 3 is considerably cheaper.

oontz angle 3..no regrets!

A:

They are both fairly good devices when it comes to sound quality. The JBL Flip 3 is IPX4 water resistant (splash proof), has dual 1.57in transducers, and has a power output of 16W. The Cambridge Oontz Angle 3 is IPX5 water resistant (protects from small water jets, such as super soakers), has two precision neodymium drivers, a bass radiator, and a power output of 10W.

The Cambridge may be a better choice if you're looking for something with slightly less power out, but a bit more economically priced, lighter weight, and slightly more water resistant. The JBL Flip 3 would be a better choice if you want to go louder in volume without sound degradation, and have a few extra features such as, airplay, and fm radio.

I wanted to decide between JBL Flip 3 And Anker Soundcore. The price difference is significant, hence I wanted to know if Anker provides a nearly similar sound experience as the JBL Flip.
Related: JBL Flip 3, Anker SoundCore Sport, Portable Bluetooth Speakers | Submitted by anonymous 388 days ago
A:

You will see a difference in sound quality between the Anker SoundCore Sport, and the JBL Flip 3. Unfortunately, since the Anker SoundCore Sport is such a small device, it distorts at high volumes, and cannot handle the same deep bass that a JBL Flip 3 can.

Is taotronics boom x better than jbl flip 3 in terms of sound. What are the cons of taotronics
Related: JBL Flip 3, TaoTronics Boom X TT-SK06, Portable Bluetooth Speakers | Submitted by anonymous 422 days ago
A:

In terms of sound the TaoTronics Boom X TT-SK06 can easily match, if not surpass the JBL Flip 3, at least in terms of sound quality. The JBL Flip 3 is equipped with dual 1.57in transducers, and has a power output of 16W. The TaoTronics Boom X TT-SK06 has 2x 10w speakers, and x2 passive radiators, and has a power output of 20W. This is a great speaker in terms of price, and loudness. You’ll find it has a great sound quality considering it is on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to its cost. A few downsides to the TaoTronics Boom X TT-SK06 is that it has no water resistance, while the JBL Flip 3 does. It’s a lot heavier as well, weighing at 1.6 pounds, as opposed to the JBL Flip 3’s 12 ounces. The TaoTronics Boom X TT-SK06 battery life is only about 6-hours, while the JBL Flip 3 has about 10-hours. Finally, it has no nfc, so if you are aiming for a device with near field communication, then the TaoTronics Boom X TT-SK06 would be a poor choice.

I'm looking at these 3 speakers. I was wondering which one has the best sound quality
A:

The Altec Lansing LifeJacket is designed more for its water resistance. It can float on water, and is very durable, but it’s rather huge and heavy. It has two subwoofers, two neodymium woofers, two tweeters, and two passive radiators. Unfortunately even with that many drivers you may find some issues with its sound quality once you pass half of its maximum volume level. The digital signal processing used by the Altec Lansing LifeJacket is not very subtle. It tries to prevent distortion upon reaching high volume levels by limiting the dynamic peaks of louder sections within the tracks, particularly tracks with lots of bass. This causes the sound to dip in volume when things are loud, and rise drastically during quiet moments. The JBL Charge 3 has a more “all around” sort of quality to it because its easy to carry around, water resistant, and charges other devices. It has two 50 mm transducers, and has a power output of 20 watts. Its sound quality is actually quite impressive, and you wont find the same sort of volume dips with this device. The Anker SoundCore is overall a much less powerful device, but also small, lightweight, and economical. It has dual high-performance 3W drivers, and a power output of 6W. Unfortunately, it has absolutely no water resistance. All in all, I would say when it comes to sound quality, you may find the JBL Charge 3 to have the richer, higher quality sound.

Hi, I had a JBL Pulse 2 for over a year and so far it's been excellent. Very portable and good sound.

A:

The JBL Pulse 2 has a lot of cool features. It has two full-range drivers with a 16W power output, a 10-hour battery life, is IPX4 water resistant (splash proof), and has a resilient design. It features a noise, and echo-cancelling speakerphone, which will keep your phone calls nice, and clear. It offers sensational sound with an interactive light show, and its splash proof design enables the JBL Pulse 2 to light up any event with high quality sound.

It sounds like the perfect speaker for you would be the VAVA Voom 21. It has a 10W subwoofer, two 5W drivers, along with two passive radiators, which will work fantastic for parties. It is also aptX enabled, so you will have the ability to stream high-quality audio without compromising the integrity of the sound.

i'd like to have a portable Bluetooth speaker with a good bass and be able to sound loud at least in a drawing room. which one should i go for?
the Sb520 or the SB571 ?
Related: SoundBot SB571, SoundBot SB520, Portable Bluetooth Speakers | Submitted by Dhiraj 32 days ago
A:

When it comes to bass you’ll find better quality in the SoundBot SB520 because it has two 50mm premium drivers, as opposed to the two 40mm premium drivers the SoundBot SB571 has. That being said, the SB520 has a lower frequency, and watt output. The SB571 has 12 watts, with a frequency range of 2.4-2.48GHz, while the SB520 has 10 watts, with a frequency range of 60HZ-18KHZ. So the SB571 can get louder, but the SB520 has bigger drivers for the bass. The SB520 will be more than sufficiently loud for a drawing room.
