Questions about Roku Streaming Stick 3500R

We have HD TV's but not smart TV's. All have HDMI ports. Don't quite know difference between Roku Express and Roku 3600R. I don't mind paying difference. How do I hook up 3600R? Then do I have to set up a Roku account? Why if free.

Hi, just want to replace my Slingbox 500 because it won't support the output from my new Yamaha receiver and DirecTV 4K Genie. Will it work as just a drop-in (for now)?
