About a month ago, my older video card (the PNY Verto GeForce 6800 GT 256 MB AGP) died and I was once again out hunting for a nice mid-range card to replace it. Now I did not want to spend too much so I went to CompUSA and picked up a BFG GeForce 7600 GT 512MB APG card for $150. It worked for about two days and that too died. I immediately knew that something else was the problem, so I returned that and got a new motherboard (Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe) and this new PNY Verto GeForce 7600 GS 256 MB PCI-E video card. I have not had a problem since than and I am also happy that I upgraded to PCI-Express. This card cost me about...

More value, ideally. We put the theory to the test with EVGA's new 7600GT CO "Superclocked Edition" -- and the results are worth crowing about. ATI Radeon X1800 GTO Video Card ReviewPublished on: legitreviews.com "Though most of our testing showed the X1800 GTO ahead of the overclocked 7600GT, we would only expect that since the ATI card is $50 more expensive. With specifications so close to the X1800XL the GTO performed nearly as well, which is to say it is very fast for a mid-range product. When it comes to Anti-Aliasing results the X1800 GTO will almost always show better performance and scaling due to the 256-bit bus vs. 128-bit on the NVIDIA card..." Sapphire Radeon X1900XT & X1900XTXPublished on: hardwarezoom.com
"With 3 times more pixel shaders than X1800XT, the new X1900 series has proved its worth and outshines the X1800 in more demanding benchmarks like 3DMark 2005 and 2006. The new R580 core has 20% more transistors than the R520, packed with the same 90nm process and cooled by the same copper heatsink fan. We were surprised that the X1900XT was rather overclockable, we manage to push the X1900XT by about 9%, from 621/1440 to 679/1566."
