Polk Signature S55 Floorstanding Speakers Reviewed
The Polk Signature S55 tower speakers are a great investment for those looking for quality and value in a sub-$700 price range. They deliver excellent tone, clarity, and overall sound quality, making them a great foundation for a home theater or two-channel music system.
+ pros
  • The Polk Signature S55 speakers deliver better tone, clarity, and overall quality of sound than expected at their price range.
  • The S55s are easy to unbox and maneuver, and their low profile allows them to sit on a mantel or be set in front of a TV without blocking the screen.
  • The S55s effortlessly fill a room with sound and have no trouble driving sound to pressurize the whole listening space.
- cons
  • The S55s have limitations in terms of volume for two-channel listening and bass reproduction, but these issues are not particular to this speaker and are common in this price range.
  • The S55s do not have the precision and crispness of higher-end performance class speakers, but this is to be expected at their price point.

A nice set of speakers, with good design and a well-rounded sound.
The Polk Audio S55 floor speakers are a great value for their price, performing well against more expensive models. They have a unique downward-firing port and produce accurate and pleasing bass frequencies, making them a great choice for both music and movie listening.
+ pros
  • Unique downward-firing port allows for placement close to a wall without sound reflection.
  • Accurate and pleasing bass frequencies, particularly in movie-listening test.
  • Good results in music-listening test, with some evaluators preferring them over other speakers tested.
  • Capable of playing a wide variety of content at high volumes without distortion.
  • Smooth and natural sound in any size room.
- cons
  • Plastic feet attached to the bottom may be susceptible to breaking if the speaker is rocked back and forth.
  • The speakers are old and there may be better options available in the market.
